Evictions put on hold in San Bernardino County

The National Emergency Act does not suspend tenants requirement to pay rent or for proper care of the residence.

March 16, 2020 Public Notice from Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino, San Bernardino SUPERIOR COURT TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE most courthouses effective March 17, 2020 through April 2, 2020. Those courts that are open are for limited emergency matters only, Criminal and Family Law.  The Superior Court not being open, effetely delaying or suspending evictions for non-payment until courts open.

March 17, 2020 Dear Customer letter:  Due to COVID-19 regarding evictions, Governor Newsom signed Executive Order N-28-20 (https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/3.16.20-Executive-Order.pdf) Those protections shall be in effect through May 31, 2020.

March 18, 2020 The Department of Housing and Urban Development will be SUSPENDING foreclosures and EVICTIONS for mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration until the end of April, President Donald Trump announced today. A HUD source said the suspension would protect 8.1 million households. The Federal Housing Finance Agency also ordered Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to suspend foreclosures and evictions for any single-family mortgages they back for “at least 60 days,” the agency said today.
